Last night when I was on 999 followers. I was refreshing my TL and Interactions page , in anticipation of the 1000th follower. I never thought I will get this far, but I was happy that I did. With all my @bakkchod tweets. When I was on 999, I tweeted : “ Just 1 more, *puppy face*” got a few #FF’s and RT’s right away, mainly from girls :P.
So I had to wait for about 17 minutes, yes 17 minutes for the 1000th follower. I even tweeted can I get a Bangladeshi follower, as Sachin scored his 100th 100 against them. I was impatient was getting cranky. Then I thought Sachin waited for more than a year for his 100th 100. This was the longest wait in his career. He had the pressure of 1.2 Billion Indian Fans and perhaps an equal number of International Fans.
Flash back happened. The World Cup Quarter Final where he made an important half century. The Semi Final where he missed out on a hundred. Okay , so all was well till now. We won the world cup and we were happy, weren’t we?
Then came the tour of England! He came close on one occasion , probably the closest in the last ‘few’ innings. He scored 91. He was out LBW. Harsha Bhogle on Air , said, “The Dream has to wait another day”
We were still fine, I guess. The man was under immense pressure. When I waited for 17 minutes, I was very very impatient . Imagine what that man went through! He’s a genius , we all know, but to have the burden of a billion people on your shoulders and perform at the highest level needs a lot of courage and determination.
That man is my inspiration. We have to be patient in life and good things will happen. And I am not talking about twitter followers or a 100th 100. This is a general theory of life. You have to keep giving your best shot, and you’ll get what you deserve sooner or later.
Moving on from the England Tour, Came the Home Series against the West Indies. He made a 76. Was out LBW again this time to a spinner. This was at the Kotla, I was at the ground. He left to a standing ovation again. CricInfo Commentary said “Not Happening This Time Folks”. It had to happen we all knew it. But it took its time.
Came the Wankhade Test Match. The Stage was set. We said it’s written on his home ground. The Stadium was packed. He was batting brilliantly , as usual.
And … He was out for 94. Ravi Rampaul’s mother and sister were blessed with every possible adjective in every possible Indian language. Most of us were getting frustrated, weren’t we?
Imagine what the great man himself was going through. He had 99 to his name in a sparkling career but he was chasing that elusive one.
The Tour Down Under was much hyped after the massacre in England. He came close, a few times but it wasn't there. We lost the series 4-0 again.
He played the ODI series and nothing happened! The wait was almost a year now. The not much hyped
Asia Cup came and Then we had our own brains running. “it will be against Pakistan” . You said that right? I know most of us did.
Against all odds, it came against Bangladesh. This was after 1 year. If I am not wrong , 368 days. The great man waited for 368 days, and even after that we lost the match.
There has to be a reason why we call him God. And we all have one answer. He is God. Period.
I had to dedicate something to him, I chose this moment when I came 0.000000000000000001 percent close to what he felt. I guess I need to add about a thousand more zero’s there.
We love u Sachin. We Love you God. You are , my Inspiration. Keep Rocking!
And btw thanks for all the follows, I did reach 1000 followers and a SRK fan followed me. Buhahahah. I DM’ed him a thank you msg. Thank you all.
Thank you God.
